      Hi there,

Does anyone have an example of a good working from home policy in place? Our company used to be office based but have not been back since March 2020 and do not currently have an office. We have hired people now on remote contracts, however, also still have plenty of employees who are still on an office based contract, but we don’t feel like we’ve given employees clarity or a policy to refer to around expectations and more questions are coming up now.

We want to put something together to clarify some things like expectations (good internet, quiet place to work), what happens if there is an internet outage (who pays for the internet/do they have to take holiday), what if someone requests co-working space, health and safety at home.. things like this.

Does anyone have anything I could take a look at, or point me in the right direction of where I could a document to start from?

      Thank you,
      Gillian

Don’t write a policy (sorry, but of course you knew we would say that!) It’s worth have some principles (see this hybrid working example) to set the tone, but if you want to encourage individual ownership and accountability – say you trust people to use their common sense and managers will use their judgement depending on the circumstances.   More examples of principles not policies here

        Good luck!

        Karen
