I’m in the process of beginning talking talent sessions with our senior management teams and I wondered if anyone created or shared a framework before the session to help facilitate the conversations?
I’ve downloaded the DHR toolkit with the questions but wondered if anyone asked for any pre thinking beforehand?
Absolutely otherwise i find everyone comes looking a little lost! At least to set the expectation of why we are having the meeting – to ask them to think of people they want to talk about and why and what their development needs are. Then at the end ensuring someone takes the action to make it happen
Hi Jodie, we’re excited for you! If possible keep it as light touch as possible (otherwise it might feel like a new ‘HR process’ but yes good idea to share in advance the purpose of the session and what you hope they’ll get from it. If you feel like you need to provide more to set expectations, then you could perhaps share the slide from the workshop titled ‘How will the Talking Talent Session work?’ but you could send out an email saying “I’m really looking forward to spending time with you all to discuss our people and their development. It’s going to be an informal session i.e. no process, no paperwork. There is nothing to prep, just come with an open mind!”.
