      I am aware there’s a trend to move away from probation periods, however, for those of you that still use them, can I ask whether you pay sick pay during that period?

      We’ve been asked to do some benchmarking so wanted to check what standard practice was. Thanks in advance!

        We do not pay sick pay during probation periods.

          Hi, our normal sick pay is 3 months full followed by 3 months half pay. During probation this is reduced to 1 week full and 1 week half pay

            Hi, we pay the same sick pay from day 1 for everyone (small tech start up).  Previously I’ve not paid during probation periods but actually I think it’s really unfair now – some people do just get unlucky with timing of just joining.

            Obviously, if you suspect that it’s not genuine that’s a different story but we put a lot of emphasis into hiring well and we haven’t yet had anyone abuse it.
