Hi there, I was wondering what approaches SME’s were taking to ‘testing’ how they might work when lockdown is lifted. We’ve been supported employees who feel that their home circumstances , such as struggling to work with partners / children at home, make them want to be in the office more – despite their role being possible from home.
We are taking the steer that their mental health and general wellbeing is an important factor here and still relaying the message to Work from home where you can, but I know some people feel the last 9 / 10 weeks has stretched them far enough and we want to support them as best we can.
Social distancing, hygiene procedures and additional measures in place in our office – and ongoing review and assessments against Government guidance.
The SME’s I’m working with are struggling with the same dilemma! I advise them to focus on individual needs rather than one size fits all i.e. for those that want to come in the office they can (perhaps not full-time to help social distancing) and those that like being at home to stay there FOREVER – haha! If we measure success from outcomes the traditional office 9-5 will hopefully become a thing of the past. I saw this message from a CEO which I liked as it talks about ‘remote-first’ approach that they’re adopting after lock down, but it still gives their people a choice.
