    Hi All – We have had a team meeting today and discussed 9 box grid, the investors and the board want this exercise to take place but my challenge back is how outdated this is. The push back from the business is what else can we do? How can we still track our top talent? Would be really great if anyone can share with me what you are doing! Thanks in advance 🙂


    Hi Emma, we stopped doing 9 box last year and replaced it with Talking Talents. Where managers get together throughout the year to discuss their people (who’s ready for a move, retention risk etc.). We do still do Succession Planning very high level. We also do Career Conversations/Check-ins with Managers-employees and all can request Career Talks from their HRBPs. I still get push back on the 9 box removal but use the Disruptive HR (9 box Fatigue article) and send them with a 🙂

    Thanks for the valuable input! And congratulations for pushing it through, unfortunately we couldn’t get rid off the 9box yet.

    Regarding the presentation of your outcomes from these talking talent sessions, how do you visualize them? Is there any function head, or even HR LT interested in the main take aways?
