    Good Evening everyone,

    I am looking into conducting ‘stay interview’ with a number of employees within our organisation (I will be changing the name as I don’t like the term stay interview).

    Has anyone got any key questions that the use or can recommend its the first time I have produced one so any help or advice would be really appreciated 🙂

    If there was one thing we could do that would improve your experience here what would it be?


    ooh! also keen to hear what you all think, we’re thinking of introducing this in our business here in Australia.


    Love the hypothetical question of :

    “If you were to resign tomorrow, what would you reason be?”


    Hi Tamara, I’d be interested to hear what you end up calling it, I too changed the title as it’s a bit too obvious / overt for our organisation, so settled with calling it a  ‘More About You’ conversation.  In addition to the suggestions so far, I’ve got:

    • What do you look forward to every day at work?
    • What about your job makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning?
    • What about your job makes you want to hit the snooze button in the morning?
    • What’s most important to you in a role? How would you rate each of those in your current role?
    • When was the last time you thought about leaving and what prompted you to feel that way?



    If you could say one thing to the MD/CEO what would you tell them?


    One of our members Alex mentioned on a previous chat that they call them Engagement Check Ins.

    We have some suggested questions here from our toolkit 

    Question #1: When you’re at work, what things do you look forward to?

    Probing Questions – What do you like most about working here? What parts are the most challenging? What do you like least about working here?

    Question #2: What are you learning here?

    Probing Questions – Is there anything else you’d like to be learning here but are not? How do you learn best? By doing? By observing? By attending training? Do you feel like you can advance your career here if you want to?

    Question #3: Why do you stay here?

    Probing Questions Is that the only reason? How much does the type of work you do impact your decision to stay? How much do you stay because you like working with our customers? Our team?

    Question #4: When was the last time you thought about leaving our team? What prompted it?

    Probing Questions – Does this still concern you? What’s the single most meaningful action I could take to address this issue?

    Question #5: What can I do to make your experience at work better for you?

    Probing Questions – What should I do more of? Less of?




    Thankyou for everyone help. You have all given me loads of food for thought.

    I will let everyone know what we decide to call them but I really like engagement check ins.
